The Peugeot 207 had evolved greatly in both body size and design, and its sports model is of course the GTi. Given this name traditionally endowed upon the hottest models of Peugeot, its package of course lives up to its expectations.
The power of the 207 series comes from the 4-cylinder engine common with the Mini, but the GTi is given a 1.6L engine combined with a high pressure turbo, which cranks out 173 HP. The transmission is only available in a 5-speed MT, and this combination gives the light 1260 kg body significant power performance.
The interior is also filled with features befitting of a GTi of Peugeot. The bucket seats are combination Alcantra Leather, and not only did they provide high holding performance, they also raise the quality of the car. The rear seats are the same, but is also in a design with a bulging center for better hold. As a result, the maximum number of passengers is 4.
Even the hot model 207 is not in a sports setting with rock hard suspension. It is given a set up that strokes smoothly and the superior dampers suppress the speed at which the body moves, in definite Peugeot style. This superior body control increases the fun of driving a Peugeot.
With a large shift knob, the controls are very light. The 5-speed MT gear ratio is crossed, so depending on the driver they will get good use out of the high 1st gear. The ability to fulfill needs and expectation like these is the allure and essence of a Peugeot hot hatch.
