"This Peugeot LMP took the top four spots in qualifying for the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans, but not one finished the race."
―In-game catch text for the car, from GT7's car collection

The Peugeot 908 HDi FAP - Team Peugeot Total '10 is a race car produced by Peugeot. It appears in Gran Turismo 5, Gran Turismo 6, Gran Turismo Sport, and Gran Turismo 7 (as the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP '10).

The car appears to be the #1, driven by Alexander Wurz, Marc Gené, and Anthony Davidson, who participated in the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car, however, failed to finish the race.

In-game description[]

"The 908 HDi FAP is the peak of Peugeot's racing history at Le Mans. Designed to compete in the 24-hour race, the French company pulled no punches in its development. It was until 2009 that it finally bested the mighty Audi R10 to win the overall title. The car you see here is the 2010 model. It didn't win Le Mans, but it did grab the top four spots in qualifying, an incredible feat in itself!"
―In-game description of the car, from GT7's Brand Central

Car Index (GT7)[]

The diesel-powered 908 HDi FAP is a car that Peugeot developed for many years, aimed to dominate the world of prototype racing. In 2007 and 2008, the company continued to perfect the machine using LMS races as a test bed, and finally in 2009, the car attained supremacy when it defeated its main rival, the Audi R10, also diesel-powered, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a 1-2 finish.

Peugeot went for two in a row at Le Mans the following year, with a new version of the car with reduced weight, revised aerodynamics, and a completely reinforced drive system. Four cars were entered, three from Peugeot Sport and one from Team Oreca.

The driving teams assigned to these cars were first rate, with Anthony Davison, Mark Gene, and Alexander Wurz piloting the No. 1 car; Nicolas Minassian, Frank Montagny, and Stephane Sarrazin in the No. 2 car; and Pedro Lamy, Sebastian Bourdais, and Simon Pegenaud driving the No. 3 car.

The drivers were set on making their mark in qualifying as all three cars raced to the front of the grid, led by the amazing lap time set by Bourdais in the No. 3 car of 3 minutes 19.711 seconds.

But the fruits of victory don't always go to the quickest in racing, especially in[1] a race that lasts 24 hours. All four Peugeot cars experienced mechanical trouble, and all four retired from the race. There was no doubt in anyone's mind that the Peugeots were the fastest cars on the track, so not finishing one car was especially disappointing for the company. You could hear the resolve of the team in a company spokesperson's statement after the race: "We'll learn from our defeat today to return stronger."

Café Conversations (GT7)[]

Jeremy[]

This Peugeot 908 HDi FAP really shot past the competition at the 2010 Le Mans 24 Hours! After taking down reigning champ Audi at the 2009 race... Peugeot approached the 2010 race eager for another win, and set to improving their 908. And of the four 908s that competed, all four placed in the top qualifying positions! What's more, the fourth-place Peugeot beat the fifth-place Audi by over two seconds. But you know, it's no easy feat to win a 24-hour endurance race. All of the Peugeot[2] 908s experienced trouble on the track, and were forced to retire. Which goes to show that endurance races are really not just about speed but also the strength to carry on.

Trivia[]

  • In GT7, when a Special Paint containing a flake effect is applied in the Livery Editor, the flakes only color parts of the body, rather than the usual full coverage on other cars. The flakes appear to only be featured on places that are matte gray/black on the stock livery.
