The Pontiac GTO is a series of 2-door automobiles produced by Pontiac from 1963 to 1974 and again from 2003 to 2006. Introduced on September 3, 1963, the first generation GTO is credited for popularizing the muscle car segment in the 1960s. The GTO was an optional package of the Pontiac LeMans for the 1964, 1965, 1972, and 1973 model years. It was a standalone model from 1966 to 1971. The fifth and final generation GTO was produced from 2003 to 2006, as a rebadged third generation Holden Monaro.
The GTO first appeared in Gran Turismo 4 and has been featured in all subsequent mainline games since then except Gran Turismo Sport.
