In-game description[]
- "It's a well-known fact that Porsche's first production car started with the rear-engine Porsche 356. Full production of the 356 series began in 1950 and the coupe model was soon followed by open-top versions. All of these models shared a boxed sheet metal chassis with independent suspension. And the flat-4 engine was available in five different displacements and output. A slightly modified 356A appeared in 1955. In 1956, a high performance 1.5-liter engine developed for the 550 Spyder was offered as an option. Models equipped with the powerful 1.5-liter engine were called the GS Carrera. They are known to have been cars that could immediately be raced as is. This model is a GS Carrera GT, characterized by a lighter body and powerful engine. These cars are collectibles that rarely change hands, so don't miss your change to drive it!"

Car Index (GT7)[]
The Porsche 356 is Porsche's first mass production model, which debuted in 1949. It underwent a major update for the first time in 1955 and again in 1959, and the model during this period was called the 356A.
The 356A became modernized in many aspects, with a naturally rounded front window, soft pads above the interior panel, and the horn on the center of the steering wheel, etc. The 356A continued to become more and more high performance from its first year, and led to the limited production of models which has continued to the modern day GT3s: the 1500 GS Carrera and the 1500 GS GT Carrera.
The car is equipped with a 4 cam engine that had been slightly detuned from the 550 Spider racing sportscar. The 1500 GS Carrera was positioned as a road car and produced 98 BHP, and the semi-racing car 1500 GS GT Carrera produced 108 BHP. The body was available in a coupé, cabriolet, or speedster.
And the first car to ever don the 'Carrera' surname, which has come to represent Porsche over the years, was this 356A 1500 GS/GS GT.
Café Conversations (GT7)[]
Freeman Thomas[]
The 356A 'GS/GT' Carrera Speedster takes the most spartan model in the Porsche lineup... And pushes it into the level of 'unobtanium'! The Speedster shape and form are an extension of the other 356A models but is more extreme... With its low wrap-around windshield, tall shoulder... And longer rear deck. The Speedster has attitude! Both James Dean and Steve McQueen had Speedsters. Unique to the Carrera GT are the deletion of the side spears and no sill deco. The bumpers delete the bumper horns and the deco is replaced with aluminum trim. You can also see the front leather tie-down straps and GT roll bar. The GT eventually got aluminum opening panels... And even the normal-looking wheels are a special construction of steel and aluminum. As ever, Porsche makes you take a closer look to know all the differences from the normal 'push-rod' models!
