Description[]
"A Cayman designed for motorsports and possessing all the competitive flair of the 911."
Porsche has competed in many sports-car races with the 911, which was one of the most popular models in its production-car lineup. The company eyed going racing with another of its production cars in 2015, when it introduced the Cayman GT4. The Cayman was a mid-engine model that possessed performance levels comparable to the 911, and the GT4 was created specifically for motorsports.
The Cayman GT4 had the same combination of 3.8-liter flat-6 and 6-speed manual gearbox used in the 911 Carrera S. In fact, it actually outdoes the 911 with 379.7 HP of power.
Some parts from the 991 GT3 were used for the brakes and suspension of the Cayman GT4, thus reducing ride height by 1.2 inches. The 2-seater also came with a distinctive lip spoiler and a fixed rear wing.
The choice of optional extras included a roll cage, fire extinguisher, and a 6-point seatbelt, making it clear from the start that this was a car designed for the track.
Dealership[]
If you're in the market for a mid-engine Porsche sports car, this Cayman GT4 is strongly recommended. It's the sister model of the Porsche Boxster. Developed in 1996, the Boxster was a 2-seat, open-top mid-engine sports car. For all intents and purposes, the Cayman, introduced in 2005, was the coupe version of the Boxster. The combination of its mid-engine chassis and rigid body resulted in exceptional handling, quickly making it one of the most desired sports cars among the world's driving enthusiasts. This Cayman GT4 was released in 2015 as the second-gen evolution of the original. Like the Porsche 911 GT3, it was a special model prepared by Porsche Motorsport.[1] Employing high-performance brakes, a sharpened chassis, and parts from the 911 GT3, its engine was not only more powerful, but mounted lower for better handling balance.
