The Porsche Vision Gran Turismo is a concept car produced by Porsche for the Vision Gran Turismo project, first announced at the Gran Turismo/Porsche collaboration announcement at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show.[1]
It was originally slated to appear in Gran Turismo Sport by the end of 2020 (along with the Porsche 917 Living Legend, which was meant to appear earlier in the year), but both cars eventually ended up being featured in Gran Turismo 7, where they made their first appearances.
It was revealed during the 2021 FIA-Certified Gran Turismo Championships World Finals during the Nations Cup, which aired on December 5th, 2021.[2] [3]

Description[]
Car Index (GT7)[]
"Porsche's modern yet daring statement on the future of the sports car remains true to its racing roots."
Since it was founded in 1948, Porsche has continually represented the highest level of automotive performance in both motorsports and on the public road. The Porsche Vision Gran Turismo honors the virtues of the German manufacturer with a future version of a sports car designed without restrictions.
Merging elements of many historic Porsches from the past with those of today, including the 919 Hybrid super car and the company's first EV, the Taycan, the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo may well be the closest thing to the perfect sports car.
Virtually built around a state-of-the-art carbon monocoque chassis, the cabin is enclosed by a glass dome. Powering the car are dual electric motors that combine to produce 820kW (1098.6 HP) and 1090 Nm (802.8 ft-lb) of torque. An innovative active aerodynamic system dynamically reacts to all driving situations to enhance the car's performance.
The car's styling was inspired by past Porsche race cars such as the 908 and the legendary 917, and while the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo looks like it belongs exclusively on a track, it was also created to also shred winding roads as a true GT car.
Brand Central (GT7)[]
The Vision Gran Turismo celebrates the Porsche brand in the form of a lightweight sports car. It features a state-of-the-art carbon-fiber monocoque and a beautiful glass canopy. The design pays tribute to classic Porsches from the past, including the 356 roadster. The power unit was inspired by the 919 endurance race car and the all-electric Taycan. It features two motors, one in the front and the other at the rear of the car. This "dual electric engine" produces an impressive 1,098.6 HP through an AWD layout. The car remains incredibly stable at high speed, too, thanks to its active aero systems.

Trivia[]
- The Porsche Vision 920, a design study released as part of the "Porsche Unseen" series, features a Gran Turismo logo behind the cabin and roof fin (from top); a statement from Porsche UK revealed that it was an initial design that was developed during the brainstorming phase of the development of the Vision GT car, but was rejected in favor of "a different design approach"; the statement also confirmed its postponement from 2020 to 2021.[4] The release of GT7 being planned for 2022 effectively pushed back the release schedule once more.
- It appears as the cover car (blue side) of Gran Turismo 7, along with the Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Concept (red side). This makes it the first Vision Gran Turismo vehicle to be a cover car in the series.
- In GT7's original intro movie, there are at least two scenes where it is seen racing with the RX-Vision GT3 around Trial Mountain Circuit. The Spec II intro movie (used from Update 1.40) also features a scene where it races the RX-Vision GT3, this time at the Fuji International Speedway.
- It is highly likely that the color depicted in the cover is the Technoblau Matt color.
- Like the Lambo V12 Vision Gran Turismo, it is also a Volkswagen Group-based Vision Gran Turismo vehicle unveiled in the real world that is only a show-piece model, and thus, nonfunctional.
- It is said to use vegan materials in its interior, as stated by its designers.
- The number 72 is a reference to the establishment year of Porsche Design, and the year F.A. Porsche (grandson of Ferdinand Porsche and son of Ferry) became the head of the company.
- It being previously teased back in 2020 on an early promotional artwork for GT7 may suggest that the model used is an unfinished, early-development version, as it had no tire branding.
- This is one of a few Vision Gran Turismo cars to feature a canopy instead of a traditional door-opening mechanism, with others being the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Coupé and the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo SV.
- Driving it or using it in Scapes will make the player's avatar wear a unique driver's suit. This also applies to the Honda Project 2&4 powered by RC213V, as well as the entire Jaguar Vision GT series and the Lambo V12 Vision GT.
- The real-life model, as well as die-cast models, came in a color called "Oryx White", featuring white paint and similar stripes, colors and accents to the Eisgraumetallic Matt paint scheme.
- This color, however, is not present in the game.
- Designers and engineers from Porsche previously claimed that it features an overboost system (overtaking feature), increasing its horsepower temporarily to 1,274 HP (950kW). This is not depicted in the game, however. Another claim was that it could reach speeds of over 350km/h, but only reaches around 310km/h in the game.
- During Gamescom 2022, Porsche launched a specially liveried version, designed by Belgian artist Vince "Vexx" Okerman; Vexx also painted the livery into its 1:1 model during the show. Said livery can be downloaded from the Gran Turismo website from the Sagittarius account (login required).
- The actual Porsche VGT model still uses the livery in real life.
