We have collected as much information as possible about how the feature in question functioned when the online services were still operational; as such, this page is retained for historical purposes.
GT6 Quick Match Main Menu

The main menu of the Quick Match mode.

Quick Match was an online racing feature in Gran Turismo 6 that allowed players to race in pre-determined regulations and stipulations. One of features added in later updates in the game, it was introduced to the game in version 1.12, released in September 2014, accessible under the Online section of the main menu; as such, the player must have obtained National A License to access this mode.

Gameplay[]

GT6 Historic Prototype Racing Car Battle Select

A car selection screen for a Historic Prototype Racing Car Battle Quick Match event, which requires the player to choose one of the provided cars. All cars except the Mazda 787B '91 had their horsepower reduced, while the MINOLTA Toyota 88C-V '89 had 20 kg of ballast added to the car's weight.

To begin, the player choses one of (up to) five available events, refreshed on regular basis. Some events require the player to use a garage car (that meet the regulations), others require use of a provided car (up to ten car choices are available in such races). Once entered, the game will attempt to match the player with other opponents (usually with the same region as with the player's PSN region, except in events marked "World"), during which the player may take warm-up laps or set up their car. Once matched, the race will start once the pre-race warm up session ends. Some events may also be advertised as "Expert Level", with different settings intended for expert players.

Most Quick Match events that feature courtesy cars are generally thematic in nature, such as for prototype race cars or for grand touring race cars. The cars in these events (indicated with hand and key symbol in Quick Match main menu) are balanced by Polyphony Digital to maintain a balanced grid.[1] Free-for-all events for road or race cars under specific Performance Points, meanwhile, require the player to use a car from the garage.

There are no driver or sportsmanship/safety rating system in this mode, meaning players will face players from any level of skill and behavior, regardless of how good one plays.

With the termination of GT6's online services on March 28, 2018, this feature is no longer available. However, many of this mode's frameworks, such as matchmaking, influences the Sport Mode in the game's successors, Gran Turismo Sport, as well in Gran Turismo 7.
