In-game description[]
- "Amédée Gordini was a legendary tuner of Renault and Simca cars, and may be best known for his achievements at Le Mans. Gordini was a hard-working Frenchman who went on to become an F1 race car constructor - basically, a genius. For many years, Gordini partnered with Renault to produce performance versions of the company's mass-market cars. This Renault 8 Gordini is one such example and probably the most popular of the official collaborations. The fact that it's near twice as powerful as the base model just goes to show what a genius tuner Gordini really was. The classic blue paint with white stripes, V-shaped bonnet and boxy styling still has legions of fans to this day!"

"Still popular half a century after its birth. A French Icon of the 1960's."
The Renault R8 Gordini was a sports model released in 1964 as a high-performance version of the compact '8' Saloon. Amédée Gordini tuned the car by the request of Renault.
The 8 base car was full of advanced technology, such as a newly developed 5 bearing engine and being the first in its class to utilize four-wheel disc brakes.
Gordini utilized these advantages well. The 1,108 cc engine with superior revving and endurance characteristics was an excellent component for 'The Sorcerer' Gordini to work his magic. The utilization of a cross flow head with a sub combustion chamber and two twin-choke carburetors roughly doubled engine output to 93.6 BHP, while maintaining the original displacement.
In 1966, the R8 Gordini 1300 was announced, with an engine displacement of 1,255 cc. This car produced 101.5 BHP with a 5-speed gearbox, extending its top speed by 5 km/h to 175 km/h.
The R8 Gordini dominated the Tour de Corse 3 years in a row from 1964, as well as many other competitions. From 1966, the world's first one-make race, the 'Gordini Cup', became the training ground for French racers, and produced many professional drivers. As such, this car is an icon of the French motorsports scene from the latter 1960's.
Its characteristic lunch-pail-like styling is still loved by fans everywhere. It is still popular as a collectors cars today, half a century after its first release.

The Tour de Corse? Well, it's a famous rally event that takes place on the French island of Corsica. The 1964 Tour de Corse was a particular classic. Only eight cars out of 79 managed to complete the race! What's more, Renault's R8 Gordini claimed first, third, fourth and fifth place! It was quite the remarkable achievement. Gordini was an engine manufacturer, originally, established by the Italian driver and engineer Amedeo Gordini. The R8 Gordini came about through a collaboration with Renault.

Following a trend set by the 4CV, the Renault R8 was the third generation of the marque's rear-engine saloons. Yet the addition of four-wheel disc brakes made it uniquely modern. The R8 Gordini is an upgraded version, quickened by the magic touch of the great Amédée Gordini. Affectionately called the 'Lunchbox', it has blunt lines and an overall spartan design. 1966 saw the addition of twin headlights. Dressed in French racing blue, with two white stripes, the Gordini truly has a charm that's all its own.
