In-game description[]

Car Index (GT7)[]

"The limited edition car that set the lap record for mass-produced front-wheel drives on the Nürburgring."

The 3-door model of the 3rd generation Mégane that debuted in 2008 was a coupé with a sporty design, on a different level to the 5-door hatchback.

The high-performance version of the 3-door coupé, tuned by Renault Sport Technologies, is the Mégane R.S. It was first shown at the Spring 2009 Geneva Motor Show, and commenced delivery from 2010.

Mounted in the body, donning special aerodynamic parts, was a dedicated 2 liter DOHC, inline-4 cylinder engine with a twin-scroll turbo, producing 246 BHP and 34.7 kgfm torque. The transmission was a 6-speed MT.

The notable part of this car was the chassis. Renault Sport, who develop cars for one-make races and rally machines for Renault, set 2 different types of chassis for this car. One was a chassis tuned for road use, and the other was a 'Chassis Cup' spec that also took into account circuit driving conditions. Both utilize a double axle strut that allows the load to be at the center of the front tire regardless of the up/down movement of the suspension. As a result of this, its cornering speed is said to be the quickest front-wheel drive ever.

In 2011, there was a 500-car limited edition model called the Mégane R.S. Trophy, with engine power raised to 261 BHP and 19-inch wheels. This car was taken to the Nürburgring in the same year for a time trial, and set a front-engine, front-wheel drive record of 8 minutes, 7.97 seconds!

Brand Central (GT7)[]

The R.S. Trophy, based on the third-generation Megane, packs a good deal of performance. It comes powered by a specially tuned 2-liter inline-4 that generates gobs of torque in the mid-RPM range, with plenty of punch that made it a delight on the race track. The R.S.'s forte is its handling, thanks to a suspension designed for maximum front-tire grip. This setup allows[1] the car to enter corners with high speed without having it understeer heavily. In short, this thing is an absolute beast through corners.

Café (GT7)[]

Fabio Filippini[]

This is a car I had a hand in styling when I was with Renault Design! When I designed the Mégane III series with my team... We decided to make an RS variant right from the start. The original design was already very compact... And extreme for a 3-door hatchback, with its sloping rear window and dynamic rear pillar. Obviously the modified bumpers... And the large rear central exhaust contribute to making it appear even more aggressive. But the most successful detail is... Undoubtedly the F1-inspired suspended wing in the front grille, which integrates the daytime running lights.
