Not to be confused with Renault Sport Mégane R.S. Trophy '11, the road car named after this car.

The Renault Sport Mégane Trophy '11 is a race car produced by Renault under the Renault Sport arm. It appears in Gran Turismo 6, Gran Turismo Sport (as part of Update 1.19), and Gran Turismo 7.

In-game description[]

"Aggressive looks topped off by gullwing doors highlight this Mégane Trophy."

Renault has been involved in one-make races in various forms since the 8 Gordini in the 1960s. Starting in 2005 they began to host the Mégane Trophy races, under their World Series. This car was developed to partake in this Mégane Trophy from 2006, in line with the model change to the 3rd generation Mégane.

The engine is mid-mounted on a tubular frame, with a special body that is made in the image of the Mégane. Only a few parts, such as the headlights and rear lights, are actually shared with the production version. The styling - created by aerodynamic parts such as the extremely wide front and rear wings - and the diffusers, big enough to scare away DTM machines, are impressively aggressive. Even the doors are gull-winged for that extra sensational touch.

That said, the silhouette and characteristic details of the original still remain, and the car still looks like a 3rd generation Mégane coupé. The power unit mounted in the 955 kg body is a 3.5 L Nissan V6 tuned to 355 BHP, and the transmission is a 6-speed, 2-pedal MT with tiptronic gear change.

The suspension and brakes are completely racing spec, and these cars are only delivered to those entering racing competitions. As you could imagine, there are many fans who have voiced a desire for a road spec model with this styling to be released.

Brand Central (GT7)[]

This race car was developed for the Renault Eurocup Megane Trophy, a one-make racing series held by Renault Sport. Now it may share its name with the Renault Megane, but this is no family car - it was built for the circuit! Powered by a mid-mounted 3.5-liter V6, and sporting a steel-frame body. Its low weight provides excellent handling balance, making it a beast on the race track.

Café (GT7)[]

In touring car races and rallies... Renault has long been represented by the compact R5 and its successor, the Clio. Ah, the WRC Gr.B R5 Turbo and the F2-class Clio Williams! Those were some great cars! But what about the somewhat larger Mégane? Well... They certainly pulled out all the stops for this Mégane Trophy! Despite the outward resemblance to its road-going variant... It is in fact a one-make racer, powered by a midship 3.8L V6 courtesy of Nissan! It was originally built to compete in the popular Renault Sport Series, which takes place in Europe.

Trivia[]

  • It was originally planned to appear in Gran Turismo 5 using the 2009 specification.[2]
    • Its internal name in all appearances is "megane_trophy_09", referring to the original plan.
  • It is the cover car of the Anniversary/Limited Edition of Gran Turismo 6, in place of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (C7) '14.
  • Being the only silhouette car in the Gr.4 class (until the Alfa Romeo 155 2.5 V6 TI '93 in GT7), its inclusion in the class has been considered controversial amongst players, with some of them questioning its class placement and eligibility.
    • In real life, it is placed on classes equivalent to GT4 in championships such as Britcar (Class 2), International GT Open (GT Lights class), and Euro Series by Nova when not used as a one-make racer, which may justify its placement in Gr.4.[3][4]
  • It is the only Gr.4 car in GT Sport that was added via post-launch updates (excluding the survey-only Toyota GR Supra (Nürburgring '19 Livery)), as well as the only car in its class to be a returning car from a previous game.

The placement of the racing number (taken from a Group 4 Cup race) which partially blocks the checkered flag pattern on the side and the Megane V6 Trophy logo on the hood.

  • In GT Sport and GT7, the racing numbers' placement may cause several decals in the default livery to be blocked by the racing numbers.
    • The placement of the racing numbers appears to be identical to the Base Model in GT6.
  • The description text in GT7 included a reference to its status as one of the 15th Anniversary Cars in GT6.
