"This 2014 GT Awards winner was a high-speed monster wearing the skin of a Camaro SS."
―In-game catch text for the car, from GT7's car collection

The Roadster Shop Rampage is a tuned car produced by Roadster Shop, based on the second-generation Chevrolet Camaro. The winner of the 2014 SEMA Gran Turismo Awards, it first appears in Gran Turismo 7, where it was added in Update 1.15.

Description[]

"Roadster Shop is a hot-rod shop based in Illinois, U.S.A. They are particularly famous for their custom chassis offerings. This Rampage is their masterpiece, and winner of the Gran Turismo Award at the 2014 SEMA Show! It is based on a 1970 Chevrolet Camaro SS. In addition to a reworked frame, its body is equipped with a roll cage for extra reinforcement... And it features a more centered engine—Masterful touches, if you ask me!"
―In-game description of the car, from GT7's Brand Central

For years, Gran Turismo handed out its "Best in Show" award at the SEMA show, a giant aftermarket convention that takes place annually in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2014, the 12th Best in Show award went to the 1970 Chevrolet Camaro SS "Rampage," built by muscle-car chassis specialists Roadster Shop of Illinois, United States.

True to its name, the car looked mean from every angle. Bulging fender flares at both the front and rear gave it a wide, menacing stance, while a large front spoiler and rear wing hinted of the prowess underneath the hood, which was a 7.0-liter LS7 tuned to produce 739.6 HP and mounted 5.1 inches rearward to improve weight distribution.

Perhaps the most notable aspect of the car was its rebuilt chassis, which came with a roll cage and plenty of carbon-fiber and aluminum components. Also, the suspension was converted to an inboard cantilever design, which thoroughly impressed the Gran Turismo team and earned the car its distinct recognition.

Trivia[]

  • When it originally won the SEMA GT Awards in 2014, it featured GoPro decals. However, said logos were removed from the in-game car, as it was removed on the car's subsequent public appearances.
    • This makes it the second SEMA GT Awards winner to appear in-game with a different appearance compared to its real-life version, with the first being the High End Performance G37, which had Cusco decals that were removed in-games.
