Sony Group Corporation is a Japanese conglomerate based in Minato, Tokyo. It is the parent company of Sony Computer Entertainment and has a Japanese joint venture automotive company with Honda Motor Company under the Afeela brand.
Other divisions of the company that are had involvement with Gran Turismo are:
- Sony's digital cameras, branded as Alpha, was used to take background pictures for Scapes photo mode feature (a feature first introduced in Gran Turismo Sport).[1] The camera division also was a FIAGTC/GTWS partner from late 2020 season until 2023.
- Sony's AI R&D unit, Sony AI, developed the Gran Turismo Sophy AI technology. Showcased in several Gran Turismo live esports events, the feature was added to the PlayStation 5 version of GT7, originally as part of the limited-time event called Race Together (available during March 2023), followed by GT Sophy support being added to certain tracks in GT7's Quick Races.
