South Korea (Republic of Korea (ROK)) is a country in East Asia. It borders below North Korea (Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)) on Korean peninsula, and is separated by the Sea of Japan / East Sea on the east to Japan, and the Yellow Sea on the west to China. The Korean War (originally fought between the US and UN-backed South Korea and the China and Soviet Union-backed North Korea) has not officially ended after 1953, and the country remains at peace while being on alert to any danger. It is home to the Hyundai Motor Company, which was the world's third largest automaker in 2023.
