"This BRZ competition machine was piloted by Formula Drift champion Dajiro Yoshihara in 2017."
―In-game catch text for the car, from GT7's car collection

The Subaru BRZ Drift Car '17 is a drift car produced by Subaru. It appears in Gran Turismo Sport (as part of Update 1.13, under the name Subaru Falken Tires/Turn 14 Distribution BRZ '17) and in Gran Turismo 7.

As the GT Sport name indicates, it is the #9 driven by Daijiro Yoshiwara in the 2017 Formula Drift competition, where he scored sixth in the points standings.

In-game description[]

"This car was driven by Dai Yoshihara, the first Japanese driver to win the Formula Drift championship. It was his 2017 competition car, equipped with a turbocharged 7.0-liter V-8 engine that produced 986.2 HP. The transmission, drivetrain, and suspension were all tuned for sliding the car sideways. If you're looking to hone your drifting skills, why not practice in Mr. Yoshihara's custom drift machine?"
―In-game description of the car, from GT7's Brand Central

Daijiro Yoshihara, aka 'Daichan', is a Japanese drift driver who became Formula D's champion in 2011. He has been competing in Formula D since its initiation in 2004, and this "Falken Tires/Turn 14 Distribution BRZ '17" is the machine he drove in the Formula Drift series in 2017.

The body is based on the Rocket Bunny V3 aero kit, with various parts replaced with carbon. Packed with technology to raise its performance as a competition drift machine, the engine has been swapped to something you wouldn't expect from the demure exterior of the BRZ: a 7 liter turbocharged V8. Approximately 986 BHP of power is controlled through a Motec M800, making this an extreme machine able to drift faster and further than the rest.

In order to best match the driving performance required in drifting, the transmission is a 4 speed. Of course the drivetrain and suspension are reinforced, and the brakes use 6 pot calipers in the front and 4 pot calipers in the rear.

Though he was unable to win the 2017 championship, Daichan came 6th overall in the series in the number 9 car, and gave an incredible performance and a show of presence to crowds of spectators that gathered for the events.

This car means one thing: Dai Yoshihara! Daijiro Yoshihara is a Japanese racing driver who specializes in drifting. He was the series champion of the 2011 Formula DRIFT Championship Series. He then went on to race in the 2018 series, in a car based on the Subaru BRZ. It packed a 7.8L V8 turbo engine under the bonnet. This allowed it to produce a massive 986.2 BHP of power! Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for him to win the championship. But the BRZ/V8 is still a cracking combination!
