In-game descriptionEdit

This description is taken from the NTSC version of Gran Turismo 2:

The Forester combines the best characteristics of both a passenger car and a sport-utility vehicle (SUV) to provide utility for everyday use and driveability in a wide range of road conditions. It debuted in February 1997 in three model grades: C/tb, S/tb, and T/tb, all housing a 2.0-liter DOHC turbocharged powerplant. This lineup was expanded in July of the same year with the addition of the 133 BHP naturally-aspirated engined C/20. Targeting outdoor types who want a beefier car than a station wagon but who see a cross-country 4x4 as overkill, the Forester offers, as its main selling point, a ride that is a cut above any other SUV. Only one body type is available, a highly functional 5-door. The mid-level turbo model, the S/tb, houses a 2.0-liter DOHC horizontally opposed 4-cylinder turbocharged engine delivering a maximum power of 247 BHP at 6,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 226 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm. This engine is essentially carried over from the Impreza WRX station wagon, but is tuned for more torque in the low to mid-speed range. Two transmission options are available (5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic), but only full-time all-wheel drive is offered. The independent suspension uses front and rear struts. Ventilated disc front brakes are paired with rear solid disc brakes. The combination of suitable vehicle clearance and the large-diameter 215/60R16 tires ensures good off-road ability as well as handling stability at high speeds.
