Description[]

When Suzuki engineers designed the GSX 1300R Hayabusa—first unleashed in 1999—they did it with the intention of building the ultimate sportbike. The key to achieving this was the sport-tourer performance to set the bike off from the racer replicas popular at the time. With the then-unbelievable displacement of 1,299cc, the Hayabusa was designed for blistering speed of over 180 mph and ease of handling at low- to mid-range speeds.

The[1] 'Busa is built with a Ram Air passive supercharging system, which is responsible for a 5 percent boost in top speed, an aerodynamic design, and other features delivering nearly unbelievable performance. It's no wonder that it was an instant hit with motorcycle fans the world over.

The bike's debut in Japanese motorcycle racing came 2 years after its release, when Yoshimura raced it in the superbike class of the 2001 All-Japan Road Race championship. In 2003, the Kenz team tricked out a 'Busa for the Suzuka 8-hour Endurance Race. Although no match performance-wise for the superbikes of that competition, the GSX 1300R Hayabusa more than proved its amazing potential to the motorcycle world.

The engine of this particular racing-modified Hayabusa has stock camshafts and high-compression pistons, but both the exhaust and fuel-injection systems are upgraded for the extra power.

In addition, high-performance suspension kits are installed in the front and rear, and six-pot caliper brakes are installed in the front.
