In-game description[]
The name Modellista refers to specialty cars created by Toyota's motorsports arm TRD. And it created a special one with the Celica sports coupe. While keeping the overall ambience of the original Celica intact, Modellista spiced up its appearance with an attractive, and functional, body kit. The new aerodynamic front bumper and rear wing were designed to contribute to both straight-line high-speeds and stability when cornering.
The Modellista tweaks for this FF (Front engine, Front drive) car didn't include major tweaks to the engine, keeping it in the 1.8-liter class, so special attention was paid to the car's handling. The only tweaks to the engine came by way of the exhaust system. With slightly better breathing, power was increased by about 9 BHP.
The car's body structure was reinforced so that it was significantly stiffer than stock. And despite the fact that it was a car focused on handling, the Modellista Celica didn't come equipped with a height-adjustable suspension system because adjusting the settings for a car with a super-strut setup was terribly difficult. TRD chassis engineers tuned the stock suspension to its maximum potential though, thus creating a front-drive-car with rear-wheel-drive characteristics. Equipped with a "quick shift" gear lever and the stock car's steering system, the Modellista Celica was a high-performance sports car that allowed any driver to safely enjoy a sporty ride.

Trivia[]
- In GT4, internally, this car is branded as "toyotamodellista" (Toyota Modellista) instead of "trd". Because of this, it cannot be tuned in the unused TRD tune shop, despite there being a Full Model menu to purchase it.
