In-game description[]
Combining startling looks and shattering performance, the outrageous TVR Tuscan Speed Six was welcomed as one of Europe's most exciting roadsters following its unveiling in 1998. The car features TVR's own interpretation of the classic sports car blueprint of a front engined, rear-wheel drive layout. A lightweight, rigid tubular backbone chassis is used, similar to that in the Cerbera coupe but shortened by eight inches. A glass fibre bodyshell helps keep performance-sapping weight down too, helping restrict the Tuscan's kerb weight to just 1,000 kg. Despite this, the car offers the flexibility of a detachable rear window and solid roof panel. The Tuscan's suspension gets its results from simple engineering using wishbones and anti-roll bars at each end with coil springs over dampers. To further allow perfect weight balance the engine is located far back in the chassis and is canted over 15 degrees and has a dry sump in order to help give the Tuscan to have the lowest centre of gravity possible. Driver aids are restricted to a limited-slip differential and optional power steering. The large ventilated disc brakes with hard-biting four-pot aluminium front calipers have no anti-lock system fitted. The job of providing road-chewing grip is handled by a set of 225/50 low profile tyres on 16-inch alloy wheels. Lending the Tuscan its 'Speed Six' tag is a complex in-line six-cylinder 24-valve AJP 6 engine designed and built by the company. The four-litre straight-six develops enormous power for such a light car, with 360 bhp pumped out at 7,000 rpm. A five-speed manual transmission is fitted. Few sports cars can match the radical Tuscan Speed Six's outright speed. Wild acceleration sees the 0-60 mph benchmark passing in four seconds dead before the car surges on to a 185 mph maximum. Promising excitement like that, it's no wonder that TVR took over 200 orders for the utterly unique Tuscan Speed Six before it had even gone on sale.
