Realizations about Street Circuits.

It's me, MaxEx12. Its been a while since i've actually been on the wiki, mainly because I've been occupied. But anyway, here is my question.

I've recently Started to pick up Gran Turismo (the first game) again, and I noticed something in the quote for the Special Stage Route 11 All-Night Endurance Race. It reads "A mid-summer Night festival on this specially built urban track.", with the keyword to me being "Built". After this, I looked up some real examples of street circuits in use by actual championships, and only a handful have purpose-built sections of track on them. Can you really just "Build" an urban track if one aquired the right resources?

I think that was just a mistake on PD's part - you don't really "build" a street circuit. Really what governing bodies who race on street circuits do is get in contact with the city to ask to section off the roads, and then work with the city to set up the temporary walls, bleachers, memorabilia tents, etc.

Yes, street tracks are technically "built". You just find an unused public road and start the construction of a street circuit by planting billboards and guard rails.

Oh, and did I forget to mention that you also "build" chicanes on a street circuit's long straight, so as to make the cars racing on it slow down? (Got this experience with Circuit de la Sarthe. Starting with the 1990s, two chicanes were added on the Mulsanne straight and they were "built" by the French road workers)
