In-game description[]
This description is taken from the PAL version of Gran Turismo 2:
Tom's announced its Angel T01 model at the Tokyo Auto Salon held in January 1994. This was a model manufactured as the first step toward fulfilling the dream of Tom's since the beginning: to manufacture and sell a Tom's Brand sports car. Tom's GB in Great Britain produced this Angel. The designer was Martin Oglivie, who also designed the Lotus F1 "T100". The body structure is bathtub-style monocoque using a carbon/epoxy/FRP composite. A body shell of carbon/FRP covers the entire structure. Because it is structurally impossible to use regular doors, gull-wing doors are used. The power unit midship is a 5-valve 4A-G unit, also used in the AE101 Levin/Trueno. With 1.6 litres of displacement, it produces a maximum output of 160 ps/7400 rpm, and a maximum torque of 16.5 kgm/5200 rpm. The transmission combined with this is a 5-speed MT. The underbody is a 4-wheel double wishbone made of pipes, like racing cars. The dampers are manufactured by Cepak. The steering and the four disc brakes are manufactured by Toyota. It is most definitely built as a sports car. And the most striking characteristic of this Angel is that the vehicle weight, even with all this, weighs in at only 700 kg. The power weight numbers are extremely high, at 4.4 kgm/ps. Because it combines a 160 ps unit midship with a body lighter than Beat, it is exceedingly easy to imagine the high potential this car would have.
