Description[]

Car Index (GT7)[]

"A 2-seat model that takes the GR Corolla to the extreme."

Gazoo Racing (GR), Toyota’s high-performance division, took everything it has learned in its motorsports endeavors to produce the ultimate hot hatch, the GR Corolla.

In creating the GR Corolla, the goal of the GR team was to offer performance on par with the super cars of the day. To enhance the car's lateral stability, the front track of the Corolla Sport's chassis was widened by 60 mm, while the rear grew by 85 mm. Also, to increase the rigidity of the overall structure, an additional 349 extra structural spot welds were performed.

Under the hood is the turbocharged 1.6-liter 3-cylinder dynamic force engine that was highly praised in the GR Yaris. But for the GR Corolla, efficiency was improved by decreasing exhaust flow resistance, resulting in an output of 300 HP. An active torque split 4-wheel-drive system with a Torsen LSD efficiently effectively sends that power to all four tires, making the GR Corolla one of the most stable and agile performance compacts in the marketplace.

The most potent version of the GR Corolla—undoubtedly the sportiest Corolla ever—is the MORIZO Edition. "Morizo" is the nickname of Toyota Motor Corporation chairman and master driver Akio Toyoda. This limited-edition model was born from Mr. Toyoda’s wish to "bring back Corollas that turn heads."

What sets the MORIZO Edition apart from the base GR Corolla is its superior performance. For one, it had its rear seats removed to save weight, effectively becoming a 2-seat model. The car also comes equipped with a unique close-ratio transmission and final gear setup, while maximum boost of the turbocharger was increased to deliver even more torque. Along with unique forged wheels and monotube suspension dampers, this special model achieves a whole new level of performance.

In an automotive world that's gradually shifting to electrification and automation, the GR Corolla is a one-of-a-kind sports car that reminds us of the undeniable allure of the internal combustion engine.

Brand Central (GT7)[]

The GR Corolla is indeed an exceptional sports car born of GAZOO Racing's motorsport success.[1] But with the MORIZO Edition, it was brought even closer to the track, so to speak. 'Morizo' is the racing alias of Akio Toyoda, Toyota's president at the time of this variant's debut. Toyoda now serves as Toyota's master driver, and plays an active role in motorsport racing. From its strong yet lightweight body to its souped-up engine and transmission—this is one finely-tuned machine!

Café (GT7)[]

Stella[]

A car with over 50 years of history and over fifty-million units sold worldwide—Is there any other car that can make such a claim than the Toyota Corolla? It's a brand that has surely made memories for countless people everywhere. The GR Corolla is a sports car built by Toyota's 'GR' brand. What's more, this model is a special variant penned by Toyota's master driver Morizo! To reduce weight, the rear seating of the 5-seater base has been removed. It also features a specially-tuned engine and transmission. Without a doubt, this genuine sports car is sure to please.

Trivia[]

  • Its inclusion to GT7 was first hinted in a press release for special edition Toyota GR-branded models for the North American market, first noticed by Jalopnik. Prior to Polyphony Digital's official announcement with the Morizo Edition, this caused some assumption that the model coming to the game would be the Circuit Edition.[5]
  • Its 3D model is based on the North American specification, as it features a left-hand steering position and imperial units in the speedometer.
  • Available in GT Auto, the Type A wing is based on the Circuit Edition, while the Type B wing, front, side, and rear parts are based on the GR Corolla Aero Concept. The optional widebody is also based on the Aero Concept.
  • It was restricted to one-make custom races in Version 1.36, before being lifted in Version 1.38.
