In-game description[]

The Tundra is a full size pickup truck developed and sold for the North American market by Toyota.

The first model was rather small and struggled in sales. Because of this, Toyota expanded both the body size and engine displacement for the 2nd generation model that debuted in 2007. This led to greatly improved sales and made the Tundra a very popular model.

From 2014, it underwent minor changes that give it powerful looks, and in 2015 the 'TRD Pro' version was introduced. This TRD Pro was tuned by Toyota's motorsport department, TRD. In order to improve its driving performance on rough roads, this model utilizes TRD coils and Bilstein dampers in order to improve the stroke characteristics of the suspension.

The TRD Pro was dropped from the lineup for some time afterwards, but returned as a catalogue model again in 2019. Based on the Crewmax 4x4 with a 5.7L V8, the suspension was further tuned with Fox dampers, and its sporting character is further raised with equipment such as the new hood scoop and BBS wheels.

Brand Central[]

The Tundra is Toyota's proudest achievement when it comes to full-size pickup trucks. The TRD Pro is the so-called 'sports version' of this versatile vehicle. Produced by TRD, Toyota's in-house motorsports specialists, its specially produced dampers and wheels enable it to hit high speeds on even the roughest terrain. In addition to its whipping 5.7L V8 engine, a 4WD drivetrain propels this 2.5-ton-plus monster with ease.

Jeremy[]

This is no ordinary pickup truck. It's a real super truck, capable of dominating on dirt tracks and oval circuits! Any mention of a Tundra makes me think of the Baja 1000 desert race. It's an all-night race that takes place on a 1,600 km course, built in the Mexican desert. It's a super-tough race, and more than half the cars that enter have to drop out with some kind of problem. Toyota entered the race with this Tundra tuned by TRD tuning, and the car won in its class. What's more, did you know[1] that the Tundra TRD has also raced on oval race tracks as well? In 2019 it entered a survival event in Daytona, winning a race in which only nine out of 32 cars finished.

Trivia[]

  • Due to its enormous size, it might not be possible to place it in certain Scapes locations without using a workaround of selecting a smaller car, moving it, and then replacing it.
  • Although intended for the American market, it is eligible for events for Japanese cars, as Toyota is Japanese.
  • This truck, along with the Porsche 911 Carrera RS Club Sport (993) '95, are known to be outsourced rather than modeled in-house by Polyphony themselves, with the first being the Honda S660 '15. The outsourcing allowed both cars to be completed in three months, compared to the usual six, although the outsourcer only covered the truck's medium LOD polygons[2]
