The Vector W8 (stylised as Wiegert Vector W-8 TwinTurbo in-game) was a supercar produced from 1989 to 1993. It was produced by Vector Aeromotive, and was co-designed by Gerald Wiegert and David Kostka. Vector claimed that it used the latest and most advanced aerospace materials and design principles, which Vector then said justified applying the term "Aeromotive" to the car. Just 19 were produced making it one of the world's rarest cars.
The twin-turbocharged Wiegert Vector W8 model only appears in Gran Turismo 2.
Colors[]
There are four colors available for this vehicle, they are unnamed in-game:

In-game Description[]
This description is taken from the NTSC version of Gran Turismo 2:
The Vector W8 was designed to take on the European exotic sports cars with American power and technology. The Vector's body styling looks contemporary today, nearly twenty years after it was designed. The blend of flat planes, rounded masses, and angular divisions gives it the high-tech, "edgy" look that is popular today.
A mid-engined car, its aluminum-composite monocoque chassis was constructed of aerospace-grade materials with aerospace technology, and housed a twin-turbocharged aluminum-block 366 cubic-inch V8[1] with a dyno tested and confirmed 720 horsepower, and 720 lb-ft of torque.[2] Front suspension was a classic independent unequal-length control arm design; the rear used a DeDion axle for constant wheel camber, important, given the 13-inch wide rear wheels.
Brakes were 12.2-inch ventilated discs all around. These were needed. With a curb weight of around 3,200 lbs and the power of the engine, the Vector W8's 0 to 60 was a claimed 4.0 seconds, with a top speed far in excess of 220 mph.
Few Vectors were produced, and so the car is far rarer and more exotic than any of the Italian competition. In reality, the engine made over 700 hp running on high octane race gas, and 650 hp with the boost turned down to run on 92 octane pump gas.[3]
Acquisition[]
GT2[]
This car can be purchased at the Vector dealership for 420,000 Credits.
Trivia[]
- This car, along with the RUF CTR2 Sport and Aston Vantage, are among the most expensive road cars available for purchase in Gran Turismo 2, if road cars purchasable from the Special sections of the dealerships are not counted.
- The W8 was the fastest production car tested by Road & Track magazine for the year of 1992. It was then beaten by the McLaren F1 in 1993.
- The initial US bugfix release of the game updated some of the car text to include dyno-tested power figures.[4] The text change also removed a remark regarding the car's aerodynamics.
- As the in-game car is listed as only at 634 hp, it is possible that the game used the unconfirmed power rating, or with detuned boost to run on commercial pump gas.
- In demo builds of the game, the car features additional colors, mostly taken from the Lotus Esprit color palette.

Notes[]
- ↑ The early NTSC version of the text incorrectly mentioned 350 cubic inch, which would be less than 5.7 liters.
- ↑ The dyno-tested figures were added in the initial US bugfix revision of the game; originally it mentioned "with an alleged 650 horsepower".
- ↑ In the initial US version of the text, the text originally read "In reality, the engine made "only" 600bhp or so in unsmogged trim and maybe 550 with smog equipment. The outrageous shape had a high amount of aerodynamic drag, which limited top speed to around 170mph, which is still not exactly slow."
