The Venturi Atlantique 600 LM is a race car produced by Venturi. It only appears in Gran Turismo 2.
The car appears to be the #44, driven by Jean-Marc Gounon, Paul Belmondo, and Arnaud Trévisiol, who participated in the GT1 class of the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car finished the race in 21st place overall, but ended up being not classified in the official standings, as it failed to complete 70% of the distance covered by the overall winner of the race.
In-game description[]
The following description is a translation of the car's description from GT2's NTSC-J version:
After the 500LM in 1993, the 600LM was introduced in 1994 and was entered in the BPR series, winning three races. In addition to the BPR series, it also competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
This machine, which has a monocoque aluminum body and a carbon Kevlar body, is characterized by its extremely light weight, which is unimaginable given its body size, weighing in at a mere 1,050 kg.
The engine mounted in the middle of the body is a PRV V6 (V6 jointly developed by Peugeot, Renault, and Volvo) with two Garrett turbines, which is also used in the production Venturi. This engine was developed for WM Peugeot, which competed at Le Mans in the 80s (recorded 405 kmh at Mulsanne). The maximum output is announced to be 600ps without restrictor. The combination of a lightweight body and this engine was a clear indication of the car's high potential.
In 1995, the person who had been leading Venturi's racing program moved to another team, and development was halted. In addition to being in the minority in BPR races, the car did not achieve any outstanding results at Le Mans, where it competed.
