"It took 10,000 hours to complete this 2016 Gran Turismo Award Winner."
Every year at SEMA, the Gran Turismo Awards are given to the best custom car on show at the convention. In 2016, the 14th such award was presented to this car built from a 1951 Ford Custom Club Coupe by a team of customization specialists for former racing driver Bruce Leven.
Leven's dream had been to build a classic racing Ford which incorporated elements of European style. The car has undergone major bodywork in order to realize this vision chopping the waistline and lowering the roofline along with it.
The powerplant is a 1956 Lincoln 368 cu in V8 unit tuned by a race specialist to produce 374.7 BHP. Additionally, both the front and rear suspension have been carefully constructed to provide competitive spec handling.
Almost every single part of this machine has been customized, taking an estimated 10,000 hours of work to complete.
Café Conversations (GT7)[]
Kagurazaka[]
There are a variety of ways to express your passion for cars. This machine is a 1951 Ford. Not only has it been lowered, the roof has been left intact, and the body itself has been made thinner. The engine is from a Lincoln of the same era.[1] The car creators pulled off in real life what designers today would only attempt on a computer screen. Cars from this era were simple to tune, having the potential for customization unlike those of today. Find a basic design that you fancy, and then inject your own sense of beauty and experience into it... And you have your own one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Every detail of this car is a 100-percent reflection of the tastes and experiences of the car owner and creator. Compare it with today's exotic cars that await customers in the showrooms, which one do you think stands out more?
