Not to be confused with World Rally Challenge, also from GT7.
"A no-holds barred race between Gr.B rally cars on an exciting, dynamic track!"
―In-game text

The World Rally Challenge Gr.B is a 6 race event that appears in Gran Turismo 7. The races are located at the World Circuits menu and the tracks are unlocked by progressing through the GT Café. Despite sharing the same event name as the existing World Rally Challenge, this event specifically focuses on Group B rally cars. However, the World Rally Challenge Gr.B isn’t part of the menu book objectives, but will appear after completing all the menu books from the GT Café.

Strategy[]

  • Since all the AI drivers use Gr.B Cars, managing a win isn't considered hard for those that are used to Gr.B machinery and driving fast to stay ahead of the field when they pit for fuel and tires. However, it is vital that the player does smooth handling for tire enabled races to ensure less tire degradation and a faster total time.
  • While not recommended, it is possible to get to the end of fuel consumption enabled races without pitting for fuel, but doing so would require the player to use the fuel map often if possible, or use a Fully Customizable Racing Transmission to make the gears longer which in turn; also makes the car faster on the long straights at the cost of overall acceleration.
    • Racing Hards are necessary as they have the best tire life while also keeping the lap times constant. Using a turbo is not recommended as it will make the tires burn out slightly quicker due to the increase in HP while also burning through more fuel than usual. Softer tires like the Mediums have faster tire wear and are likely to be burnt out before the player reaches the end.
  • Catalunya and Eiger Nordwand are the only races where penalties are enabled. Oddly though, players are only penalized for track limit breaches at Catalunya; but not at Eiger Nordwand. Cutting across pit lane lines on the other hand do penalize the player while at Eiger Nordwand and is therefore the only race where pit lane penalties are enabled.
  • Tokyo Expressway is the only race where rain can play a part at any point during the race; but it's unlikely it'll happen. Therefore, the player can still get to the end on a damp track with Dry Tires; but it would require the player to be cautious on the turns, otherwise they can just wall-ride the corners.
  • Eiger Nordwand is legitimately the hardest of the bunch thanks to 14x Fuel Consumption and the player starting farther back than the other races, and the AI drivers at the front on hard difficulty can often run into the distance for those that don't have upgrades on their car. All of this means that a Turbo is necessary at the cost of burning through more fuel while also adjusting their suspension settings just to catch up. It is possible to still get to the end without pitting though, but this means heavy usage of the fuel map is a must-use while also making enough ground to pass the front runners while they're exiting the pits, otherwise it's either a 1st place or not.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being listed as part of this championship, the AI listing for the race at Barcelona uses the names of the drivers from the menu book version of this event.
    • In addition, it is possible to partake in this specific race in a non-Gr.B car.
    • Furthermore, it is the only race where the Race Start and Race End music is different compared to the others. In this case, it's the same as the ones used for the WTC races.
  • Miyazono's car in the Eiger Nordwand race uses golden OZ Center Lock wheels, instead of the car's default wheels.
