Strategy[]

The opponents in this event drive Gr.4 cars. For those desiring an instant win, a detuned Gr. 3 race car like the Nissan Skyline Silhouette '84, a Gr. B race car like the Audi Sport quattro S1 Pikes Peak '87, or a Red Bull X2014 Junior can be used. In addition, some road cars are capable of posting faster lap times than all the aforementioned race cars and are likely to dominate any high-speed track, such as Circuit de la Sarthe and Mount Panorama. However, using a road car means lower fuel mileage, except if a racing engine swap is installed.

With fuel wear at around 6x-12x depending on the race, fuel mapping can play a part depending on the car (moreso if the player is in a car that lacks race car fuel mileage). However, playing with fuel mapping can result in a slower race/strategy compared to using the default fuel map and pitting. For road cars (and race cars with non-racing fuel mileage), cars that can do three to four laps on fuel map 1 can still post fast times in any of the 10 lap races.

Dragon Trail, Autopolis, Le Mans, and Red Bull Ring all feature rain conditions that can appear at random. While having intermediate/heavy tires are important, so does checking the weather radar to know when to switch to wets. In addition, Circuit de la Sarthe also has Heavy shortcut penalties are enabled; therefore, mistakes leading to a penalty during the wet can result in additional consequences when serving said penalty.

Trivia[]

  • For the race at La Sarthe, it is not possible to lose the Clean Race Bonus, except by passing an AI car during a yellow flag.
    • As of version 1.26, the player can lose the Clean Race Bonus by even the slightest bump to a rival car or a barrier.
    • As of version 1.49, the race's tire wear was reduced from 10x to 6x, as a result of the physics changes introduced in that version.
  • Despite being marked as a World Series driver in the championship version of the event, Tetsuya Sugawara is not marked as such in this series.
  • Prior to the Spec II v1.40 update, Ryota Kokubun drove the Mazda Atenza Gr.4. This change is not present in the championship version.
  • Rather unusually, the race at Deep Forest does not have a restriction on which tires can be used, allowing the player to enter the event with machinery equipped with Comfort and Sports grade rubber.
  • The retail races originally had 50,000 credits for a race win prior to v1.11.
