Description[]

A two-stroke Yamaha motorcycle, the TZR250SPR road-going racer was specifically developed for prestige, and sported bodywork that was a near-replica of a TZ250, with turn signals and other safety parts installed in order to run on everyday streets. Based on that very TZR250SPR, the performance of this TZR250 was further polished in order to pursue its potential for high-speed racing.

In order to further reduce body weight, lightweight carbon fibre parts were used for the front fairing, the seat, and the wings, and the fully adjustable front and rear suspensions were given hard racing settings.

The ignition timing was changed, as was the shape of each port, and an engine with just a lot more punch was the result of a modernisation through the installation of racing carburettors and expansion chambers. The standard transmission that had considered handling ease in town a priority was changed to a close-ratio type, which smoothly conveyed the more stalwart engine's power to the track. While improving braking power, control was heightened as well with a change to Brembo brakes both front and rear.

As a result, the chassis of the TZR250 (balanced by the centralisation and lightening of the mass) was emphasised further, power that extended throughout the speed ranges was obtained from the engine, and an overall package befitting a two-stroke race replica machine was achieved.
