Description[]
After its debut in 1999, the YZF-R6 was completely restyled in 2003 and furnished with a fuel injection system and new frame as well. Along with an increasingly powerful engine, a change of suspension parts was carried out in 2005 and lighter handling was obtained.
This particular machine was based on that YZF-R6 with modifications made in accordance with the "Supersports class" for production racing. The range of modification allowed on supersports bikes is severely restricted by regulations but, among all of those machines, the R6 makes especially good use of its high-quality handling capabilities.
Its speciality is cornering performance. The front fork is based on a standard unit but with modified inner parts and possesses excellent damping capabilities. The rear shock was changed, and the increased engine output is handled with a racing-type electronic control unit that makes setting changes for the fuel injection and ignition timing to match the customised exhaust system.
Safety parts required for street use were removed as well, and the body weight reduced through a carbon fibre fairing, further emphasising the light handling character that's latent in the R6.
